James River Regional Cleanup

Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020
9 a.m.-1 p.m.

By popular demand, join the James River Advisory Council in its 21st year of cleaning up the James River and its shorelines!

Although a different format this year, the self-directed cleanup is a cooperative, regional event, spanning miles of the James River, at 13 sites. Walkers, powerboats, paddle craft, and hikers will participate in a limited capacity, social distancing.  Volunteers will need to register!

Due to COVID-19, we are hosting a self-directed cleanup.
Social distancing will be maintained, and masks are required. Please remember to dress comfortably (closed toe shoes) bring gloves, masks, trash bags, grabbers, water, insect repellent, sunscreen, and hat (optional).

Safety Guidelines

JRAC encourages you to review the following safety guidelines compiled by our partner, Clean Virginia Waterways, prior to the cleanup.

Interested in collecting data?

This data card provides the opportunity to record litter and specific items collected as you clean along, around, or near the river and in your community. The data collected helps track trends and identify solutions to littering.  It’s very easy to complete and submit to Clean VA Waterways.
